The game move away from futuristic setting which introduced in Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and it will instead feature that setting similar to original games Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon. This is a popular open world and tactical shooter utilizing third person perspective. Here players play as member of Ghosts, fictional elite team in United States Army. This game doesn't feature futuristic setting that used in the Advanced Warfighter & Future Soldier, but it will instead adopt modern-day setting, it is similar to original Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon. This game is the first entry to the feature an open world, that includes nine of different types in terrain, such as mountains, desert, forests, salt flats & also introduce a dynamic weather system & day-night cycle.

Completing missions in daytime allows the players to spot all enemies easily, at the time of completing missions at the night grant players tactical advantage, as night offers the players better concealment.
